Jennifer Pitoscia

The main event of Pitoscia’s outfit is a vest she found at one of Calgary’s coolest vintage shops. “Wild Rabbit Vintage in East Village is absolutely iconic. I went in there and I literally saw this [vest] hanging, got it and walked right out. It was a must,” says Pitoscia.

Arrah Demsky

“I really wanted a cow print skirt,” says Demsky. “I actually had to order this skirt twice, because when I originally got it shipped from Amazon, they sent me a cheetah print one. Now I own a cheetah print one, which I’ll wear eventually, but I just really wanted a cow print skirt to go with the brown boots.”

Indra and Al have been attending Stampede together for 25 years. The husband and wife duo’s style reflects a longstanding love for the event.

“I’ve been in Calgary for 50 years, so I’ve got lots of Stampede outfits. I like being different,” says Indra.

“This shirt is kind of a rodeo shirt. It has sort of a southern, southwestern design to it. I’ve had it for about 10 years. I’ve got a bunch of shirts and this is my favourite,” says Al.

Cori Senini

Senini’s ensemble, which features fun accents like handmade earrings, includes several locally sourced pieces. “The belt is actually from the Rangeland Derby, where we were a sponsor. I work at Suncor so we sponsored [a chuckwagon] this year,” says Senini.

“I’m kind of known for the cheetah print, a lot of jewellery and a lot of layering,” says Edwards.

“My boots I got from Lammle’s, as well as my belt, which is one of my favourite places to shop for country wear,” says Main. “I like a lot of unique patterns as well, like all the lace and polka dots.”

Chris Murray

Former Calgary Stampede Princess Chris Murray is dazzling in a self-made outfit that made its Stampede debut a decade ago. “The top I made and I wore it 10 years ago in the parade. This year, we’re celebrating the 80th [anniversary of the] Stampede Queens Alumni so I had to make [the outfit] better and I put the sequins down the legs,” says Murray.

Tutiek Nurhayati

Nurhayati has been coming to Stampede for 20 years and has several coordinated outfits planned for this year’s festivities, including this all-white ensemble.“I love Stampede. I have so many outfits. I love boots — tall boots, short boots. I got [these boots] from Boot Barn in Houston, Texas. And the dress is from Le Chateau,” says Nurhayati.

Wanda Flack

Flack says her outfit is inspired by her “cow obsession” that started years ago. “You know when you go into Zellers and you pick your kitchen paper towel holder, canisters, napkin holder set? My one friend picked blue geese and my other girlfriend picked roosters. I could have picked the cow or the pig and I picked the cow, and my collection just grew from there,” says Flack on how her appreciation for cows started.

Alessandra Casanova

Casanova picked up her fringe jacket at a booth on the Stampede grounds this same day to complement the rest of her outfit. “[The dress] is from Brazil, that’s where I’m from. The belt came from Brazil too,” says Casanova.
