This summer, see debris from Pacific Ocean beaches turned into incredible pieces of art at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo. Washed Ashore is a new exhibit featuring 15 marine wildlife-themed sculptures peppered around the zoo facilities, and they’re all made out of beach debris. There’s even a handy map to help you find all 15 sculptures.

The 2025 show-jumping tournament season kicks off this month and is your chance to see some of the top equestrian show jumpers in the world. In June, there are three tournaments: The Continental from June 5 to 8, the National from June 11 to 15 and the Pan American from June 26 to 29. During those weekends, you can also catch outdoor movie screenings on select nights and exciting concerts featuring artists like Dean Brody, City and Colour and Metric. Can’t go in June? There will also be screenings and concerts during the North American tournament from July 2 to 6.

For the first time in more than two decades, The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland has launched a new major exhibit. Kípaitápiiyssinnooni was curated by Niitsitapi artist Star Crop Eared Wolf and is “an immersive cultural experience rooted in Blackfoot ways of knowing, being, and belonging.” Blackfoot knowledge keepers and artists made the items featured in the exhibit, which just opened in May.

If you love to read, head to Memorial Park on June 24 for the return of Wordfest’s Read-a-Thon event. The outdoor event will take place in the park by the oldest library in Alberta (Memorial Park Library) and is free to attend. Expect live music, a pop-up café cart, free Village ice cream (if you’re among the first 200 guests) and other activities.
