If you love a good cookbook, the launch party for Calgary-based food writer Julie Van Rosendaal’s new book, Kathie the Mail Girl’s Mother’s Cookies, is one you won’t want to miss. The new cookbook features recipes from figures in Van Rosendaal’s life, including her great aunt’s Yorkshire puddings and great-grandmother’s butter tarts. The Magic Table

When: May 22 to July 31, 2026

An international experience that is equal parts fine dining and magical visuals comes to The Dorian Hotel. Each dish of the five-course menu is part of a narrative portrayed through 3D projections and interactive elements on the table. Choose from one of three menus: The Wizard Essential, which features dishes like tuna tartare and a smoked AAA Alberta tenderloin entree; The Enchanted Garden, a vegetarian menu with dishes like a carrot spring roll and Mediterranean tartlet; or The Young Magician, a simplified menu for kids. Taste of Calgary Food Truck Edition

When: May 23, 2026

One of Calgary’s largest food and drink festivals is back with a food truck edition. On May 23 from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., check out 22 Calgary food trucks all in one place. Start your experience with savoury goodies at Arepas Ranch and Bastion Burger, then grab desserts like mini doughnuts from The Little Donut Bakery and shaved ice from Ice Ice Baby. There’s no entry fee.

Dog Days

Hot dog fans, rejoice! The new festival Dog Days celebrates the barbecue staple by recruiting 45 restaurants around the city to show off their best hot dog creations. $1 from each featured hot dog sale during the festival will be donated directly to the Pet Access League Society.

Terroir Symposium

When: May 27 to 31, 2026

This 20-year-old celebration of food and the chefs behind the culinary creations returns this year with the theme “The Joy of Food.” Over four days, immerse yourself in workshops and dining experiences. Learn more about spices and how to use them in the “Spice 101” workshop or learn to make a foundational pastry dough in “The Art of Choux.” Terroir Symposium Day closes out the program with stage presentations from chefs and catering from restaurants around Calgary.

Ube Fest
