This market, which has two locations, is always a bustling place with its wide variety of vendors and extensive food court. Whether you’re looking for fresh produce, baked goods or seafood, you’ll find it here. Depending on the day, there could also be activities like live music and kid-friendly entertainment.

Hours: CFM South, Thursday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CFM West, Wednesday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Crossroads Market

Part year-round boutique market, part seasonal open-air market and part flea market, Crossroads is a unique destination with a dedicated customer base. Patrons can discover a variety of local goods, from fresh fruits and produce at vendors like Broxburn Vegetables to artisanal cheeses at Say Cheese Fromagerie. Other vendors offer everything from coffee to deli meats, so be sure to do some exploring.

Fresh & Local

Fresh & Local has two locations in Avenida Village. At the Fresh & Local Market & Kitchens, shop from dozens of vendors and dine at eateries like Bangkok Kitchen, Oishidesu Ramen Shack, Tipzy Cow Creamery, Zushi and more. And at the Fresh & Local Farm Store, you can pick up tons of fresh fruits and vegetables year-round.

Hillhurst Sunnyside Farmers’ Market

This weekly market run by the Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association (HSCA) is as much a social gathering for the community as it is a place to buy food items. The summer outdoor market is open from June until October. Following that, the HSCA runs an indoor farmers’ market from October to May.

Seasonal Farmers’ Markets

Granary Road

You’ll have to drive just south of Calgary to get to Granary Road. There’s an admission fee for the active learning park, which is a big outdoor play area with educational exhibits. But, the public market is free and indoors. Vendors include Rooster’s, Cravings Bistro and Yummy In My Tummy. Granary Road also has an Aquaponics Centre which provides customers with the freshest possible produce. Purchase cheese, produce and other ingredients to take home. Or, get a grab-and-go meal to eat on one of the covered pavilions.

Farmers & Makers Market

Visit this beloved inner-city market at its cSpace location in Marda Loop with more than 50 local vendors to explore from food truck vendors to fresh produce. With 90 per cent of each market’s weekly offerings being locally grown and crafted, you can feel good about localizing your grocery shopping.

Triwood Farmers’ Market

Triwood Farmers’ Market offers a variety of local products. In addition to a weekly summer market, there are select market dates in the other seasons, as well.

Hours: Tuesdays, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Dalhousie Farmers Market

Community is at the core of the Dalhousie Farmers Market, with at least 80 per cent of the vendors offering products that are made, baked or grown in Alberta. The market runs weekly during the summer, and has specific market dates in the winter and spring as well.

Hours: Thursdays, 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Bridgeland Riverside Farmers’ Market

There’s no better way to spend a lovely summer day than in the heart of Bridgeland for the Bridgeland Riverside Farmers’ Market. Stop by on Thursdays to shop from over 30 market vendors offering treats, produce, beer, coffee and more.

DJ Market

This single-vendor produce market tucked into an industrial lot just east of Blackfoot Trail is a hidden gem, offering an impressive array of fresh B.C. and Alberta fruits and veggies.

Hours: Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sundays and holidays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Out-of-Town Farmers’ Markets

Canmore Mountain Market

If you’re ever planning on taking a Thursday off work for a day in the mountains, stop to buy lunch at this farmers’ market before you begin your hike.

Hours: Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dates: May 22 to October 2

 

Airdrie Farmers’ Market

The Airdrie Farmers’ Market has something for everyone — think fresh produce, sweets and natural soaps — and there’s a distinct community vibe. The vendors change weekly, and during the market season, the market rotates through more than 150 vendors. There are also different food trucks present each week.

Bearspaw Lions Farmers Market

This is an outdoor market on the edge of the city with gorgeous mountain views. More than 110 vendors sell local produce, meats, fish and more, and 80 per cent of the vendors sell products that are made, baked or grown in Alberta.

Address: Lions Club of Bearspaw, 25240 Nagway Rd.

Hours: Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dates: June 1 to October 6

 

Strathmore Farmers’ Market

This market was established in 1995. A few of the vendors at this market include Shamm’s Kitchen, Grampa’s Honey Farm, Dietz Meats and AJ’s Trinkets.

Address: Strathmore Kinsmen Park

Hours: Fridays, 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Dates: June 6 to September 19

 

Cochrane Farmers’ Market

This market is just a short drive out of the city, or an incredibly scenic bike ride out of town for those looking for a little more activity. Market vendors include Bamboo Dumplings, Cian’s Mustard, Saltcraft Meat Co., Spirit Hills Winery and more.

Hours: Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dates: June 7 to October 4

 

High River Farmers’ Market

The annual outdoor farmers’ market is a long-standing tradition in the town of High River — it’s been around for more than 35 years.

Address: 4 Avenue and 1 Street S.W., High River

Hours: Thursdays, 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Dates: June 19 to September 11

 

Okotoks Farmers’ Market

Head to the Okotoks Farmers’ Market this summer to explore a variety of Alberta goods and produce. Vendors are set up on the grass and under trees, and there’s music playing while you shop.

Hours: Fridays, 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Dates: June 20 to September 19

 

Millarville Farmers’ Market

This market is the real deal. Calgarians can enjoy a leisurely drive out of town to shop at the market and find a bite to eat. The suggested admission fee is a $3 donation and that money supports programming at the Millarville Racetrack.
