Online Bakery Pâtisseries Louise Unveils New Storefront in Inglewood

Husband and wife Djim and Louise Tondoh grew up eating traditional French desserts in Côte d’Ivoire, a West African country with a colonial French background. When they moved to Calgary in 2019, they found themselves missing those treats.

A self-taught baker, Louise always had a passion for baking. Louise began making and selling traditional French pastries through her online bakery called Pâtisseries Louise in June, 2024.

“[She was always] making things for birthday parties and holidays,” says Djim, who handles the business side of Pâtisseries Louise. “I told my wife, ‘Why not just try it?’”

Eventually, the bakery’s following grew big enough that they decided to open a brick-and-mortar storefront, which launched in December, 2025. At the new space in Inglewood, guests can experience decadent French pastries, cakes and tarts in a space decorated with marble and concrete.

“Our thing is offering people in Calgary an opportunity to taste what those traditional pastries in France are like,” says Djim.

The bakery offers individual-sized pastries like fruit tartlets (which were one of the bakery’s big sellers when it first started online), mille-feuille or fraisier cake, with that day’s options displayed on the front counter under glass displays. Larger cakes like la vie en rouge (a chocolate and red fruit cake), a cherry and chocolate tart and more are available as well, but must be ordered three days ahead of time.
