This Iconic Calgary Bakery is Releasing a New Cookbook

by Chris Landry

Local bakery Crave Cupcakes has been a Calgary staple since sisters Carolyne McIntyre Jackson and Jodi Willoughby opened the first bakery in Kensington in 2004. Using family recipes for cupcakes, cookies and its incredible buttercream frosting, Crave’s popularity grew quickly and the company now has four Calgary locations (as well as one in Edmonton and Saskatoon). After such success, it’s only natural that a cookbook is the bakery’s next project.

The self-titled cookbook Crave features over 70 recipes from the bakery, celebrating all things sweet alongside stories about the bakery’s beginnings. Expect recipes for homestyle banana or pumpkin spice latte cupcakes, salted chocolate chunk cookies, raspberry sour cream pie and even Crave’s famous buttercream icing. There are also a number of recipes adapted for vegan and gluten-free diets. Basically, it’s never been easier to enjoy the Crave Cupcakes experience at home.

Treat yourself and help the bakery celebrate its 20th birthday with Crave, which is available for pre-order now and will be released on May 6, 2025.
